The Tartan Difference
At Tartan Spaces we have the privilege to work in people’s personal spaces, with their
possessions. As such, we require our team leaders, move managers and organizers to have a
current Vulnerable Persons Police check.
We try, to the best of our ability and experience, to protect precious items (whether of
monetary value, of historical significance or unique family memories) and ensure that all private details remain confidential.
We also compensate our team members a living wage based on their experience and level of responsibility. We pay our subcontractors fairly and on time.
We strive for a work-life balance and respect the need for personal time.
In a business where emergencies and special circumstances can arise, our focus is the safety, health and wellbeing of our elderly clients. As such, we do not have regular business hours and do not charge extra to work overtime or on statutory holidays.

We believe that Recycling is not just a logo or a blue bin.
Moving can create a massive amount of waste. We use re-usable bins for smalls moves and if boxes are required, we reuse them as many times as they retain their integrity. The final use is when we deliver items as donations.
We source one time used packing paper from a local business partner, that we fold and size to be used for fragile items.

Part of recycling is directing items to be re-used or re-imaged.
When items are to be donated we make every effort to find appropriate recipients.
When items must be disposed, we make every attempt to avoid the landfill.
We do it because it is the right thing to do and because we live on earth too.

We rarely rent a dumpster to clear a property. Our service is to sort items, not only to ensure that families find precious items, but to redirect to those who need and will appreciate them.
We deliver items to a wide range of charities:

We also can list large items locally on ‘Buy Nothing’ groups,
saving money in delivery costs.

Purposeful Donations

Those In Need
We attempt to reach out to new Canadians and refugees to directly donate items that are in immediate need.
Used Medical Equipment
For the Needy Not The Greedy is a Not-For-Profit where donated medical equipment is directed to those in need. They are in the Niagara region and they have a delivery person who will coordinate pickup in any area.

Household Items
We donate quality furniture, tools, and building supplies to Habitat for Humanity.
